The Mentor of the Year award in 2022 goes to Rob Branwood, Project Quantity Surveyor
What the nominators said…
Celebrated by junior and senior team members alike, Rob’s always there to support and advise others at various stages in their career journey. Nominators highlighted his genuine passion for helping out, juggling his own significant workload to make the time for those in need. “He’s just a natural mentor that inspires others”, said one.
What the judges said…
Rob came to Solomons from a background as a Costs Lawyer who was seeking a career change into Quantity Surveying. He had already taken steps to achieve academic accreditation through a post graduate MSc pathway, but his prior career had given him the skills and attributes to ensure that he has been able to adapt and excel in this new career path. Despite working hard to take on a new and challenging career, Rob has consistently taken time to support others, which he does without fanfare or flourish. He is simply a genuinely supportive and reliable colleague who is both generous and exceptional in his ability to help and encourage others following the same path. It’s quite an accolade at such an early point in your Quantity Surveying career to be nominated as a mentor to others, but we have a feeling that this is only the beginning of Rob’s story in this regard!
What Rob said…
“I am beyond thrilled to receive this award and the fact that I was nominated by my colleagues makes it all the more special. I don't particularly consider myself a mentor, but I enjoy sharing what I have learnt so far when someone else can benefit from it and support them on their own journey. I don't believe that there's any point in keeping what I've learnt a secret – it was passed on to me by someone else, so its only right that I should continue to pass it on where I can.”
