Yet more high performing SMEs are set to realise their growth ambitions in West Cumbria following the award of the third long-term Programme and Project Partners (PPP) framework.
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick and Doosan Babcock have been announced as the winners of the mechanical and pipework framework (KDP5), worth between £122m and £237m over the life of the programme.

As part of its pioneering approach to project delivery and local impact, PPP has engaged with Solomons Europe’s Swimming with the Big Fish SME Matchmaker Service.
The Service brokers introductions and develops relationships between those bidding to become Key Delivery Partners – along with Goods/Services Agreements – with SMEs willing to invest in West Cumbria in terms of job creation, apprentice recruitment, the creation of new or expansion of existing facilities in the region and a wide range of meaningful social impact activities.
A total of 8 SMEs that went through the MMS process have contracts lined up with the winners of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) package of work, Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick and EJ Parker Technical Services, awarded in November 2021.
And 9 SMEs that underwent the process are poised to sign contracts with NG Bailey and Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick, who were awarded the Electrical & Instrumentation package in February 2022.
The number for the mechanical and pipework framework will be revealed soon.
The award of the framework is yet another huge stride forward in achieving PPP’s shared ambition to create a clean and safe environment at the Sellafield site for future generations, improve sustainability and better outcomes for the local economy and communities. Solomons is extremely proud to be playing a part.
