The Swimming with the Big Fish SME Matchmaker Service has already been working closely with Seddon, along with others that submitted bids for a package of work that will run until March 2039.
The Service – which is being delivered by Solomons Europe for PPP – matches high-performing SMEs willing to invest and grow in West Cumbria with businesses that secure work through PPP’s pioneering Multi Project Procurement commercial model.
The model encourages long-term collaboration throughout the supply chain, enhanced project delivery, and paves the way for greater social and economic impact in the West Cumbria region. And Seddon - a family-run company - has already committed to opening a new office in West Cumbria.
So far, the Service has supported the awarded KDP3 - heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), KDP4 - electrical & instrumentation and KDP5 - mechanical pipework and fabrication and manufacturing Good/ Services Agreement (GSA1) packages. To date, 26 Heads of Terms agreed between the Key Delivery Partners appointed for these packages and SMEs that have been through the Service’s scoring and profiling process. And more are set to be secured for these in the coming months.
It is currently working with bidders for KDP7 – Scaffolding, insulation, and painting and KDP8 – combined concrete structures, groundworks and blockwork, which is by far the biggest package of work to be released by PPP, worth a staggering £1bn over 18 years.
