As a proud SME the Solomons way has always been to tackle challenges head on. That is why we created our own Future Skills Academy – not only to keep up with the pace of change but to stay one step ahead of the game.
Our Strategic Director Kerry Doig penned the below article for the July edition of AcostE’s Project Control Professional, outlining what the Academy’s focus on driving our team members’ technical, digital and resilience skills.
Ultimately, using Kerry’s words, it is all about: “Supporting real growth in our people. That does not mean more training, more qualifications, more hours, more responsibility. It means the autonomy, freedom, and confidence to act responsibly and consciously, not just in respect of their professional role, but also in the impact their role may have on the wider project teams, supply chains and communities around them.”
The article also includes insights from our North West Regional Director Mark Coburn, and Project Quantity Surveyor Lucy Farrer on the work they’re doing on sharing their knowledge with others across the Solomons team. And Senior Quantity Surveyor Stephen Mills shares his experience of mentoring the next generation of high performing Quantity Surveyors at the company.
