It’s never too late! That’s the message our Swimming with the Big Fish SME Matchmaker Service has received loud and clear from the Key Delivery Partners we’re working with for the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) at Sellafield.
The Service – delivered by Solomons Europe for PPP – matches high-performing SMEs willing to invest in West Cumbria with Key Delivery Partners that secure work through PPP’s pioneering Multi Project Procurement commercial model. The model encourages long-term collaboration throughout the supply chain, enhanced project delivery, and paves the way for greater social and economic impact in the West Cumbria region.
So far, four packages of work have been awarded.
KDP 3 – Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick and EJ Parker Technical Services
KDP4 – Electrical and Instrumentation
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick and NG Bailey
KDP5 – Mechanical Pipework
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick and Doosan Babcock
KDP9 – Building Fit-out
Seddon Construction
To date, 31 Heads of Terms have been agreed between these Key Delivery Partners and SMEs with support from our matchmaking team.
But the door is far from closed for other SMEs who have the capability, capacity and willingness to flourish in West Cumbria looking to become part of these KDP supply chains.
After all, these frameworks are long-term, so the opportunities to get involved are ongoing, as Matthew Taylor, PPP Framework Director at Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick, sums up perfectly.
He says: “We’ve got a supply chain, but we’re always looking to improve on that, develop it, enhance it, and I’m sure we have gaps in that supply chain. So, our work is very much alive. We very much need a collaborative supply chain to deliver the programmes ahead of us. The real work starts now.”
