Members of our North West Team have stars in their eyes after smashing the Run Media City in aid of the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
Not to be outdone by colleagues in Cumbria and the North East who’ve gobbled up the Grasmere Gallop and the yomped the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge respectively, a whopping total of nine North West team members bossed 5k and 10k runs in a sunny Salford on Thursday, June 29.
A mix of seasoned runners and newcomers, Rebekah Hughes, Alex Sheldon, Rob Branwood, Alex Smith, Dawn Powell, Cameron Field, James Peacock, Lee Collings and Michael Gilsenan navigated courses that passed the ITV and BBC television studios. And our very own Cameron trotted away with first place in the 10k run, completing it in a time of 34 minutes and 37 seconds – nearly two whole minutes faster than second place!
Rebekah, who headed up Team North West, says: “The run was great. There was a really good atmosphere and everyone in the team really pushed themselves. A huge well done to everyone.”
While there was little chance for celeb spotting, the team had bigger things on their mind. They’re aiming to raise at least £2,500 for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity during 2023 as part of the Solomons Community Fundraising Forum initiative.
The charity delivers patient support, life-saving research and innovation in care at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Merseyside. And at the time of writing, Team North West were almost three quarters of the way to meeting their target, having raised an extremely impressive £1,865!
You can donate to their cause by visiting their Just Giving page.
In previous years Solomons made direct donations to organisations and charities nominated by team members across our three regions. In 2023, we’ve taken a different tack, with regional team members choosing a charity close to their hearts and taking on a wide variety of activities to reach the target of £2,500 – if not more.
