Solomons Europe's North West Director Mark Coburn and trainee Quanity Surveyor Emma Worthington are part of the team responsible for steelwork erection of The Factory multi-purpose entertainment venue in Manchester city centre.
Supporting structural steel contractor Hares on Manchester City Council's pioneering building in the St Johns area, Mark and Emma have had a front row seat in the project's progress, which continues to forge ahead in spite of current Covid-19 restrictions.
Hares is providing the steel structure, brackets and bearings that support the buildings PCC wall panels. They are also providing metal floor decking.
The Factory will be a 5,000 capacity flexible creative warehouse venue that boasts a 1,600 seat theatre, along with studios, green rooms and offices. The theatre is located above Water Street, with plans to utilise the building's ground floor for festivals.
The striking project builds on the city's rich heritage of culture, art, music and TV.
"The Factory will be ultra-flexible, enabling large-scale artistic work of invention and ambition that isn’t made anywhere else." The Factory
