The £2 billion North Sea Link will see the world’s longest power cable connect the power grids of the UK and Norway.
The 1,400MW HVDC interconnector will see electricity generated from UK windfarms flow underwater to Norway, and power generated from hydropower in the Scandinavian country make its way back to UK shores.
The link is set to provide power for more than 750,000 homes and help drive down the cost of energy bills.
Solomons Europe is supporting specialist sub-contractor Approved Power Services (APS) in its work to deliver a new converter station at Blyth, Northumberland.
With an on-site presence, we are helping APS to manage their contract with main EPC contractor ABB, offering expertise on issues ranging from risk to managing cashflow expectations for the complex project.
The hugely significant North Sea Link is being delivered by Statnett in Norway and National Grid North Sea Link Limited in the UK.
ABB is also delivering the new converter infrastructure required at Kvilldal, Norway, where the interconnector lands.
