Solomons Europe has a long-term presence in the water sector.

We have provided a range of services to United Utilities’ Construction Delivery Partners on their AMP6 Framework.

This has included supporting the £300 million West Cumbria Water Supplies Project, which involved installing new pipeline between Thirlmere reservoir to West Cumbria to provide a resilient water supply to homes and businesses in the region.

A new water treatment works, pumping stations and underground service reservoirs will also be created, and other stretches of existing pipelines refurbished through the project, which will ultimately bring an end to the removal of water from Ennerdale and protect the wildlife found there.

We continue to play a crucial role in the delivery of United Utilites’ £40 million water quality improvement work at the Lake District’s most popular and iconic lakes, Windermere.

The project revolves around a significant upgrade to Windermere Wastewater Treatment Works near Tower Wood and a new 6.5km stretch of wastewater pipeline linking it to a pumping station at Glebe Road in Bowness-on-Windermere.

We have been supporting United Utilities’ CDP Advance – a joint venture of a JV of MWH Treatment and Balfour Beatty – on post-contract work for a project that will significantly reduce the number of times the sewer network overflows into the lake during storms – helping to protect the environment and the enjoyment it brings to millions of visitors and Cumbrian residents each year.
